In September of 2009, Cunningham & Associates opened the affiliate firm of Cunningham, Hiers & Associates, CPAs, LLC in Charleston, South Carolina.  Located on Daniel Island, Cunningham Hiers allowed Glenn Cunningham to partner with Clyde Hiers.

Glenn Cunningham, CPA is the President of Cunningham & Associates. Glenn founded Cunningham & Associates in 1992. Glenn specializes in providing tax and business advisory services to businesses. Prior to founding Cunningham & Associates, Glenn served nine years with the Cleveland office of Price Waterhouse, specializing in tax and business consulting services for middle market clients. He also worked for a local accounting firm in Beachwood, Ohio for two years. Glenn earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from The University of Akron. Glenn’s professional and other affiliations include American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (member), Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (member). He is also a member of the Board of Directors of several local companies and he is a trustee for several foundations.

Clyde Hiers has practiced in public accounting for 36 years, and holds designations as a CPA, CFP, CFFA (Certified Forensic Financial Analyst), as well as earning a Masters in Taxation from California State University in San Francisco.  Throughout his career Clyde has been very active in the academic side of our profession, while also being an active practitioner. Clyde returned home to Charleston in the fall of 1983 to take a position as Associate Professor of Accounting and Taxation at The Citadel, where he taught from 1983 to 1991.  He also has been tax counsel and lecturer for the National Association of Residents and Interns at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) for over 30 years.  He has been program director at the College of Charleston’s financial planning education program, has served as an adjunct faculty member at Trident Technical College’s Division of Continuing Education, and he has taught numerous CPA exam review courses. Clyde is very active in the Charleston community, serving on many boards, including the Charleston Symphony and the Daniel Island Business Association.
